All the Way Live Urban Dance Festival

AWE sponsors the All the Way Live Urban Dance Festival

The All the Way Live Urban Dance Festival USA was held in early September in Fremont. Alan Waltz Entertainment is a proud sponsor of this dance festival showcasing the best of urban dancers from around Northern California and around the world, which is particularly fitting since some of our team members are some of these dancers! It’s a great way to showcase the talent around Northern California and a great way to do something for the community.

Dancers compete in a variety of categories, including Bgirl, Locking and Crew vs. Crew Bboy Battle. This year also saw two new categories: “The Squad” hip hop choreography division and the Crew vs. Crew Popping Battle.

And not only do the winners at this festival go home with that sense of pride for being the best of the best, but the winner of each category receives a trophy and a $1000 cash prize. Awesome stuff!

The All the Way Live USA Urban Dance Festival is run by the All the Way Live Foundation, which utilizes dance as a means to reach out to underprivileged and at-risk youth in marginalized communities, working to fill the gaps left by public institutions with a safe environment to develop and create self-expression through dance.

The Barrish Bar Mitzvah at the Bently Reserve-September 2012

We started off September with quite the swanky bar mitzvah for Bradley Barrish at the opulent Bently Reserve* in San Francisco. This was an elegant and fun affair where we partnered with party planner, Sophie’s Stress Free Soirees, and we brought our A-game with Alan, Grady, Megan, and Serge.
The_Bently
Megan and Serge kept busy teaching the kids all the latest and greatest dance moves, while Grady and Alan kept the beats going so everyone got up on the dance floor throughout the party. Sophie’s Stress Free Soirees brought their event planning skills, and we also brought our ability to engage a diverse group of adults and kids. Everyone got a chance to dress up and show off their best poses (Loving the Kanye sunglasses with the Native American-style headdress in the photo!).

It’s always so much fun when we get to work in an amazing venue and when we get to partner with another local company, even more so when we get to provide the entertainment for a fabulous family like the Barrishes.

Congratulations, Bradley!

*Donald E. Bently, pioneering mechanical engineer, recently passed away. A memorial service will be held on October 18th to celebrate his life. More information can be found on the Bently Reserve website.

Big Time Party At Isabella’s Bat Mitzvah

RJ and Jay-R rocked the East Bay for Isabella Brown’s bat mitzvah at Temple Isaiah at the beginning of September.

RJ got all of the kids involved throughout the celebration, whether it was showing them the latest dance moves or playing games. Jay-R kept the party flowing with his DJing and even threw in a little “Gangnam Style”, which, of course, got everyone dancing.

Michele, Isabella’s mother, told us that “Isabella and her friends had an awesome time!”

Whether working with kids or adults, we’ll make sure that everyone has a great time-through music, games, photo booths, or organizing the logistics so that you can just sit back and enjoy yourself.

If you’ve been to a Bar Mitzvah in The South Bay, then I’m sure you’ve heard of us. Alan Waltz Entertainment is now expanding their coverage area to include The East Bay and San Francisco!

At the Hop…

It’s the end of August, so you know what that means: kids are back in school! Here at Alan Waltz Entertainment, back to school makes us think of school dances! Whether it’s a winter ball, Homecoming, Prom, or a graduation, we love working with kids, and what better way to do that than a school dance!
PALYProm
Your child might be a wallflower or the first one on the dance floor, but our super-enthusiastic DJs can get even the shyest of the shy engaged and having fun in different activities—even if they choose not to dance. For those of you who have hired us for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, you know what we’re talking about!
BacktoSchoolDJ
For a school dance, we understand that schools have tight budgets, so we work with any school-from a large high school to a smaller middle school-and reduce our rates so we can fit those budgetary restrictions. We don’t want to keep the kids from having fun!
IMG_4747
When your school’s dance season comes around, give us a call, and we’ll make your school’s dance the coolest, sickest, illest, wickedest (and whatever other jargon we’re not hip enough to know!) school dance around!

Flying High at the Feit Fȇte

Cameron Feit’s family certainly had lofty ideas for Cameron’s bar mitzvah: an aviation themed event!

Blue_Angels
Cameron’s mitzvah was held at the Hiller Aviation Museum, and among the vintage airplanes, prototypes, and models, everyone had a soaringly good time! Of course, we had to play some classics like “Come Fly With Me” and “I Believe I Can Fly!” For this event, we worked directly with Wendy Kleckner with Continental Caterers, so Wendy’s team was able to supply the yummy treats for Cameron’s special day. Our very own Alan is also a commercial pilot and aviation enthusiast, and his enthusiasm even led to a “best paper airplane” contest during the event, which Cameron won!
Hiller_Aviation_Museum

Whatever your special interest, theme, or idea, we can help make your event exactly what you’re looking for! We’re partnering more and more with local companies to fulfil every need, so let us know what you’d like, and we’ll do the rest!

Five Questions with…Sergio Suarez

Sergio Suarez is one of the Alan Waltz Entertainment dance team, and if you haven’t seen Sergio in action before, he is like the Tasmanian Devil on the dance floor! We wanted to throw a few questions at Sergio to see if he is as wild one-on-one as he is on the dance floor.
Serge Suarez pct

Introduce yourself, and tell us about two interesting (or not so interesting!) facts about you.

My name is Sergio Suarez; in the dance world, I go by “PowerSerge”. I’ve been dancing for the past 18 years, and dancing professionally for the past 10 years.

Who are your top three artists/groups?

My all time favorite artist would have to be Michael Jackson.
2nd: James Brown
3rd: The Beatles
Serge and FriendsDJ Sergio
How did you start dancing?

I began dancing back in 1994, a few of my school mates began teaching me the “running man”, which than lead to the “Roger Rabbit”, which eventually lead to me spinning on my head (Breakdancing). I am happy to say, I’ve been spinning on my head ever since! (Ed. Note It’s hard to keep him right-side up sometimes!)

What do you enjoy most about working on events with Alan Waltz Entertainment?

One of the greatest feelings is being able to share a special moment in a young person’s life. Knowing that “Alan Waltz Entertainment” helped and organize a memory/feeling that will never be forgotten is truly priceless.

What song do you find gets everyone on the dance floor?
Pump it-Black Eyed Peas

Thanks, Sergio!

Uplighting

People will often ask us, “How can I make my event stand out from all the rest” ? we tell people all the time, “the number one thing you can do to make you an impact on at your event, in addition to having great entertainment, is to add uplighting”.

led-uplighting
It’s not as expensive as you might think, and much less than having your venue or a lighting company provide it for you.
room_lighting
When it comes to lighting there are endless possibilities to create a unique look and feel in any size room.
LEDLighting
If your considering uplighting let us know what your thinking, or we can design something for you. We have lots of ideas we can share with you.
Uplighting
Our lights use very little electricity, so blown fuses or breakers are unlikely. They also do not generate enough heat to pose the threat of catching fire or causing injury.
